WHY EVERY CHILD NEEDS IT — And why adults should teach it to them
KNOWLEDGE is power – NUTRITION is powerful!
At a time when lifestyles, the pace of life and eating habits have changed dramatically, I see it as my duty and responsibility to pass on the necessary knowledge – to consciously counteract this trend. Children are particularly close to my heart, as they rely on us adults to guide them, support them and provide them with the necessary knowledge about food, wellbeing and body awareness.
In this way, they learn from an early age to make good decisions for themselves in a self-determined way, and experience has shown that they embrace and put this into practice with enthusiasm, which is a major asset in prevention. My driving force is to bridge gaps in knowledge – in a way that moves, touches and has a lasting impact.
What happens when children lack the necessary knowledge about nutrition and its effects?
- Development of obesity
- Silent inflammation in the body and intestines
- Nutrient deficiency
- Increased risk of chronic diseases
- Low stable energy: fatigue, exhaustion, concentration problems
- Mood swings, irritability, emotional instability
- Low self-esteem and stress related to one's own body image
What happens when children develop nutrition competence
early — and apply it in everyday life?
- Stable, healthy body weight
- Good nutrient supply
- Calm, balanced metabolism
- Less silent inflammation, a healthy gut
- Consistent energy, better focus and more joy in learning
- Lower risk of chronic disease
- More stable mood, inner calm and resilience
- Positive body awareness and a relaxed relationship with food
Before I discovered ‘Nutrition& Competence’ at Kids World, I was torn between good intentions, time pressures and conflicting information when it came to children’s nutrition.
I felt as though I was constantly having to explain things, yet still didn’t have a clear approach.
Thanks to Arabelle’s programme, I’ve finally gained a clear understanding of the connections, simple visuals for the children and practical help for our daily lives – without pressure, without feeling guilty. This has noticeably eased our approach to food and gives me the feeling that I’m really supporting my children well.
